Editorial Guidelines

The standards behind every outfit idea, trend guide, and shopping pick on Style Sonnet, written by real hands for real midsize women.

Hi, I’m Nicole Sanders, founder and editor of Style Sonnet.

After years of feeling invisible in mainstream fashion coverage as a midsize woman, I built this site to be the fashion corner I always wished existed. Honest, tested, and made for real women living real lives. Sizes 12 to 18 aren’t a niche here. They’re the whole point.

Everything you read on Style Sonnet follows the standards below. If a piece doesn’t meet them, it doesn’t get published. That’s a promise I make to every reader who lands here.

Who Style Sonnet Is For

Style Sonnet is written for midsize women, sizes 12 to 18, who love clothes but are tired of style advice that treats us like an afterthought. Every outfit, every trend take, every product I recommend goes through one question first: would this actually work on a real midsize body, in a real day, on a real budget? If I can’t say yes to all three, it doesn’t make it onto the site.

How I Choose What to Cover

Trends on Style Sonnet aren’t guessed. Before I call something a “2026 trend” or a “must have piece,” I look at what’s actually happening. On runways, in retailer buys, in editorial coverage, in what real women are searching for and saving on Pinterest. If a trend genuinely won’t work well on a size 16 body, I’ll say so plainly. I won’t pretend everything is universal when it isn’t.

Outfit ideas and product picks are chosen for fit range, fabric quality, price honesty, and how they actually wear on a midsize frame. Not just how they photograph on a straight-size model on a brand’s website.

Editorial Independence

My recommendations are mine alone. Brands cannot pay to be featured in a roundup, a trend report, or a styling guide on this site. When a brand sends me a piece to try, or when I use an affiliate link, I disclose it clearly and honestly. But no relationship, whether gifted, affiliate, or otherwise, changes how I write about a product. If something doesn’t hold up in real wear, I say so, even if it stings.

Affiliate Links and Sponsored Posts

Style Sonnet uses affiliate links, which means when you shop through some of my links, I may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. Those small commissions are what keep this site running, so I can keep writing.

Affiliate status never decides whether a product gets featured, or where it ranks in a roundup. A piece I love earns its spot because it’s good, not because it pays.

On the rare occasion I write a sponsored post, it’s labeled clearly at the top, either “Sponsored” or “Paid Partnership,” before you read a single word. My editorial standards apply the same way to sponsored content as to everything else. If I don’t believe in the product, I don’t take the deal, no matter what it pays.

Where My Information Comes From

When I cite a statistic, quote an expert, or reference reporting from another publication, I link to the original source. I never present someone else’s writing, styling, or research as my own. If a photo isn’t mine, it’s either licensed, shared from a brand’s official press assets with permission, or credited to the photographer who took it.

Accuracy and Corrections

I work hard to get every detail right the first time. A correct price, a working link, a designer’s name spelled properly. But if a mistake slips through, I fix it. Corrections are updated directly in the article, with a dated note at the bottom explaining what changed and when.

If you spot something that needs fixing, please email me at info@stylesonnet.com. I review flagged corrections within 48 hours.

I also revisit older articles every few months to check that prices, links, and styling advice are still current. If something has aged out, I either update it or archive it. Style advice should stay useful, not just live on the internet forever getting stale.

My Stance on AI

Every article on Style Sonnet is written, edited, and reviewed by me. A real person, a real midsize woman with real opinions about clothes.

I sometimes use AI tools to brainstorm topic angles, help outline a longer guide, or generate illustrative visuals for concept posts. But no article is published without my hand shaping the voice, checking the facts, and making sure the styling actually works in real life. AI never makes editorial decisions on this site. No product review, trend take, or fit note goes live without my personal judgment behind it.

Images on Style Sonnet

Style Sonnet uses a mix of my own photos, licensed stock imagery, brand press images, and AI-generated visuals for illustrative outfit inspiration. AI generated images are only used to show a styling concept or a mood, never to misrepresent a real product, a real person, or a real event. When a photo shows a specific product you can shop, that photo comes from the brand or from my own shoot.

Reader Comments and Privacy

I respect your privacy. See the Privacy Policy page for the full details on how data is handled here.

If comments are open on a post, I moderate them for spam and rudeness. Thoughtful disagreement is always welcome. We don’t all have to love the same trends. Personal attacks are not.
